(Get Started at Home or the Gym)\" width=\"950\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e5YmBRYozjo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>As Coach Lauren mentions above, the \u201ccircuit\u201d in circuit training comes from the fact that you do a sequence of exercises back to back to back, and then you repeat the sequence. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And then again. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You cycle through the planned sequence of exercises, or circuit, multiple times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s circuit training. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Generally, you hit each major muscle group during one full circuit. You may do a lower body for one exercise. Then the upper body the next. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>You\u2019ll find all sorts of different circuit training sequences.<\/strong> Here are some things most will have in common:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Several different exercises. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A normal circuit will have five to ten different movements per circuit. You\u2019ll often hear these referred to as \u201cstations.\u201d Overhead press station, squat station, etc. <\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Little to no rest in between.<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal of circuit training is to keep your heart rate up. Ideally, if you\u2019re physically able, you go from one exercise to another without stopping. Maybe you rest after the whole circuit. Maybe.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Rinse and repeat.<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Generally, you\u2019ll run through your circuit a few times. Three rounds are common.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sense?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3601574\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/the-tick.gif\" alt=\"The Tick is stoked you are putting on weight, muscle or fat, it means our strategy is working.\" width=\"327\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The point here is to work different parts of your body with different exercises, and then while those parts are recovering, you\u2019re working on your other movements! Think of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/proper-push-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">push-up<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/do-a-pull-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pull-up<\/a>. These exercises help build and tone muscle.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aerobic Exercise.<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAerobic\u201d means \u201cneeds oxygen.\u201d Your heart rate increases to get oxygen where your body needs it, thus the word \u201ccardio.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/running-properly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Running<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/a-beginners-guide-to-biking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">biking<\/a>, or jumping jacks would be examples of aerobic exercise.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The thing about a circuit is, you actually do both categories. Presses and lunges fall into strength training. Jumping jacks are cardio. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And since you aren\u2019t stopping much in between stations, you\u2019ll need more oxygen, and voila. It doesn\u2019t have to be much though, give it about five minutes to get your muscles active and your heart rate up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will help you do exercises properly and help prevent injury.
