How\u2019s the morning going? I hope you\u2019re having a great day so far. It\u2019s been *slightly* cooler around here lately. Just to the point where the air feels nice and fresh without being too cold. The mornings have been really lovely.<\/p>\n<p>For today\u2019s post, I wanted to share my review and thoughts on Darin Olien\u2019s book, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+OSxlwqygvZ94GQTefj3m2w\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Superlife. <\/a><\/em>Written in Olien\u2019s engaging conversational style, <em>Superlife<\/em> is a one-of-a-kind comprehensive look at dieting and nutrition, a timeless and essential guide to maintaining the human body and maximizing its potential.<\/p>\n<h2>Superlife Book Review<\/h2>\n<p>You may know Darin from a couple of places:<\/p>\n<p>1) he was Zac Efron\u2019s knowledgeable sidekick in <em>Down to Earth <\/em>(which I pretty much spent mentally debating who was more attractive. In the end, I think it\u2019s a tie.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessista.com\/review-of-superlife-what-i-learned\/nintchdbpict000594813595\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-152093 follow noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-152093\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/NINTCHDBPICT000594813595.jpg\" data-fslightbox=\"gallery1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tvandshowbiz\/12090896\/zac-efron-new-show-down-to-earth-netflix\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">photo source<\/a><\/p>\n<p>2) he\u2019s one of the creators of Shakeology! This is Beachbody\u2019s protein shake, which is packed with superfoods and nutrients. I drank it religiously and loved it for years, but <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessista.com\/pregnancy-supplements-why-im-not-drinking-shakeology-while-pregnant\/comment-page-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener follow noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">stopped drinking it when I was pregnant with P<\/a> and never really got back into it. It tastes amazing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessista.com\/review-of-superlife-what-i-learned\/shakeology-1-of-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-152094 follow noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-152094\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/shakeology-1-of-1.jpg\" data-fslightbox=\"gallery1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I saw that Darin had a book, I instantly <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+OSxlwqygvZ94GQTefj3m2w\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">downloaded it to my Kindle app<\/a>. I finally had the chance to dive in and finish it, and wow. While a lot of it was info that I already knew from being in the health and wellness space for a while, I still learned a ton. It also was a gentle nudge to get back to some healthy habits that have fallen off the radar over time. I feel like along with so many of you, I\u2019ve really been trying to just keep my head above water lately. I finally feel like I\u2019m almost to a point where I\u2019m squeaking past the \u201csimply survive\u201d benchmark and can start to focus back on a couple of work goals and routine tweaks.<\/p>\n<p>For a healthy lifestyle, I\u2019m all about ADDING things to your routine where it makes sense, instead of focusing on removing them. For example: more vegetables, more movement, more fresh air, better sleep, meditation, etc. instead of less cake, less sugar, less meat, blah blah. This book gives many ideas on strategies that you can add to your routine for a super life; one that is vibrant, energized, pain-free, and free of illness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessista.com\/review-of-superlife-what-i-learned\/attachment\/9780062297198\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-152096 follow noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-152096\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/9780062297198.jpg\" data-fslightbox=\"gallery1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">From The Website<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In this groundbreaking health and lifestyle guide, Darin Olien\u2014superfoods expert, nutritionist, creator of Shakeology, and co-host of the Netflix docuseries <em>Down to Earth<\/em> with Zac Efron\u2014provides the key to understanding and utilizing five life forces, the sole factors that determine whether or not we will be healthy, fit, and free of illness.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Superlife<\/em>, Darin Olien provides us with an entirely new way of thinking about health and well-being by identifying what he calls the life forces: Quality Nutrition, Hydration, Detoxification, Oxygenation, and Alkalization. He explains that all of this is possible without any of the restrictive or gimmicky diet plans that never work in the long term.<\/p>\n<p>Olien has traveled the world, exploring the health properties of foods that have sustained indigenous cultures for centuries. Putting his research into practice, he has created a unique and proven formula for maximizing our bodies\u2019 potential. He also includes a \u201cHow-to-eat\u201d user\u2019s guide with a shopping list, advice on \u201cwhat to throw away,\u201d a guide to creating a healthy, balanced diet plan, and advice on how to use supplements effectively.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">What I Liked About This Book<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He breaks the book down into 5 life forces to emphasize in your daily routine: nutrition, hydration, oxygenation, alkalization, and detoxification. In each segment, he provides details on steps that you can implement to make the most out of each component. He also adds tips for exercise, feeding kids, supplements, kitchen staples, and a sample 10-day eating plan and to-do list. I LOVE how thorough he is in each section with lots of attainable tips. It\u2019s one of my pet peeves when you read a health or wellness book and the author spends the entire time telling you about why their plan or philosophy works so well without actually giving you the steps you need. They spend far too much on the \u201cwhy\u201d instead of the \u201chow\u201d and this book is the perfect mix of both. It\u2019s also very conversationally written, so while it includes multiple science-backed facts and peer-reviewed studies, it\u2019s an easy read.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Notes I took on my phone while reading:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Make sprouts. (You can see more about this <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessista.com\/how-to-make-sprouts-at-home\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Big salads with lots of raw veggies &#8211; focus on kale and broccoli<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Smoothies with varied ingredients<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Water with a pinch of Himalayan sea salt, cayenne, and lemon in the am<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Foods with high chlorophyll content: chard, kale, spirulina, chlorella<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Make exercise sporadic and fun; truly challenge yourself<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Find a better water source. We have reverse osmosis here at the house, but it hasn\u2019t been serviced since the first time we lived here. So we haven\u2019t been using it. I\u2019ve been filling the large water jugs from Whole Foods. Though I&#8217;m trying to find a better option (glass bottles, a great filter like Berkey, or even a delivery service).
