Former 2019 <a aria-label=\"World&#039;s Strongest Man (opens in a new tab)\" data-lasso-id=\"214898\" href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/2023-worlds-strongest-man-roster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">World&#8217;s Strongest Man<\/a> (WSM) and defending ASC champion <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/martins-licis-golds-gym-one-arm-row-150-kg-dumbbell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"ek-link\" data-lasso-id=\"214917\">Martins Licis<\/a> will not be participating in the latest iteration. <a aria-label=\"Oleksii Novikov (opens in a new tab)\" data-lasso-id=\"214900\" href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/oleksii-novikov-hummer-tire-deadlift-world-record-goal-600-kilograms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">Oleksii Novikov<\/a>, the 2020 WSM champion and 2022 ASC runner-up, will also not be competing. That means, in a loaded field, it could be no-holds-barred finding a new winner. <\/p>\n<p>Potential contenders include reigning two-time WSM Tom Stoltman. While he&#8217;s already established himself at the peak of strongman, the 28-year-old Stoltman has never captured an ASC title. <\/p>\n<p>Another athlete to watch might be Mitchell Hooper, one strongman on a hot streak. Hooper closed 2022 with six consecutive podium finishes, including wins in both the <a aria-label=\"2022\u00a0Giants Live World Tour Finals (opens in a new tab)\" data-lasso-id=\"214901\" href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/2022-giants-live-world-tour-finals-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">2022\u00a0Giants Live World Tour Finals<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a data-lasso-id=\"214902\" href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/2022-arnold-strongman-classic-uk-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">2022 Arnold Strongman Classic UK<\/a>, and began 2023 with a win in the Australia&#8217;s Strongest International. If anyone seems likely to add another title to their resume, it could be the Canadian dynamo. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, a dark horse could be Poland&#8217;s Mateusz Kieliszkowski. After apparent discomfort in his leg, Kieliszkowski <a aria-label=\"withdrew from the 2022 WSM (opens in a new tab)\" data-lasso-id=\"214903\" href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/mateusz-kieliszkowski-withdraws-from-2022-worlds-strongest-man\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">withdrew from the 2022 WSM<\/a>. According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/strongmanarchives.com\/viewAthlete.php?id=175\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"ek-link\" data-lasso-id=\"214918\">Strongman Archives<\/a><\/em>, he hasn&#8217;t appeared in a strongman contest since the 2021 Rogue Invitational. Though, if healthy, Kieliszkowski&#8217;s performance ceiling likely remains high. The former five-time Poland&#8217;s Strongest Man (PSM) champion (2015-2019) notched two runner-up results in the 2018-2019 WSM.
