That\u2019s okay. Do the best you can.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In other words, it might be challenging to hit personal records (PRs) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/strength-training-101-the-deadlift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in your deadlift<\/a> while also watching over a four-year-old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This doesn\u2019t mean \u201cDon\u2019t bother working out.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It just means you should forgive yourself ahead of time if all doesn\u2019t go according to plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3807282 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/disaster.gif\" alt=\"A funny scene of a disaster with Leslie Nielsen.\" width=\"479\" height=\"274\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want proof of how working out with kids can be \u201ca hot mess,\u201d watch Coach Matt exercising with his young children.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The video is all sorts of adorbs.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>THE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BEGINNER BODYWEIGHT WORKOUT<\/a> (KIDS EDITION):<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bodyweight: Beginner - Kids Edition\" width=\"950\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EGn01RFBlFk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>When working out with kids, remember:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>#1) Meet kids where they are<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. For young kids, invite them to be a partner. Maybe they can count your reps, tell you when to start, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, older kids might be able to participate more fully, and maybe even train alongside you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No matter what, it\u2019s a good idea to invite kids to join when and IF they want, without requiring it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#2 ) While every kid is different,<\/b> <b>here are some very general guidelines from Coach Matt\u2019s experience:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>2-6 Years Old. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These kids are often way more interested in just playing, wrestling, etc. So doing a specific workout may be challenging. However, these kids may still want to be a part of things, so look for ways to get them involved.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>7-12 Years Old. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this age, they can start handling a little more structure. They will probably really enjoy \u201cskills\u201d training (more on this below), as well as many play aspects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>13+ (Depending on the Kid).<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They may be ready to step in and join you more fully in a workout if they want to.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>#3) Consider a focus on skills\/practice. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be really frustrating to have a timed exercise or workout interrupted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3807283 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/needy-stewie.gif\" alt=\"A gif of Stewie from Family Guy shouting for attention.\" width=\"481\" height=\"301\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead, consider thinking of it like \u201cpractice time\u201d of building a skill. You can practice for a couple of minutes, take a break, come back to it, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kids might respond better to \u201cskills\u201d training instead of \u201cexercises\u201d too. Together, you can practice:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crawling<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jumping<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swinging<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Getting up and down off the floor<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dancing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throwing\/Catching<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This might go over better than \u201clet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/strength-training-101-how-to-squat-properly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">do squats<\/a>\u201d or \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/proper-push-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">push-ups<\/a>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#4) There are lots of different ways to get workouts in throughout the day:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Short workouts:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a lot of times Coach Matt finds himself squeezing a workout in 10 mins or less.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Accumulation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> take little micro-breaks throughout the day to do a couple of reps of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/the-42-best-bodyweight-exercises-the-ultimate-guide-for-working-out-anywhere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some bodyweight exercises<\/a>. Kind of like \u201cexercise snacks.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Longer workouts:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> maybe creating that time and space for your training is still important. If possible, defend this time and let the kids move in and out of the frame as they are interested.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>\u201cI go, you go\u201d:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you may snag a workout set in, then play a game with your kids, then go back to the workout set. Breaking it up like this can make them still feel engaged and give you a little more time to train.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>#5) Whatever happens is okay! <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, do the best you can, and it\u2019s perfectly fine if your workout gets cut short because your kid starts drawing on the walls.<\/span><br \/>\n<a name=\"2\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><b>The 8 Best Exercises to Do With Young Kids<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3807284 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/kid-working-out.jpg\" alt=\"A kid holding himself up with one arm on a jungle gym.\" width=\"799\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/kid-working-out.jpg 2037w, http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/kid-working-out-300x116-1.jpg 300w, http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/kid-working-out-713x275-1.jpg 713w, http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/kid-working-out-768x297-1.jpg 768w, http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/kid-working-out-1536x593-1.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/kid-working-out-600x232-1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 799px) 100vw, 799px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>If your kids are light enough, you can actually use them as makeshift weights during your workout.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just be careful, and if anything feels unsafe, don\u2019t do it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if things DO feel good, here are some exercises you can do along with kiddos (or using them as weight).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#1) Bodyweight Squats (with Child)\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-3807285 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/squat-kid.gif\" alt=\"Matt has his kiddo resting on his shoulders, almost like a safety squat bar would.\" width=\"312\" height=\"555\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>This is much like a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/strength-training-101-how-to-squat-properly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">normal bodyweight squat<\/a>, but with your kids sitting on your shoulders.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coach Matt recommends having your kid\u2019s legs come forward, and for you to grab them, almost like you would with a safety squat bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before attempting this, make sure you can do squats with comparable weight!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#2) Lunges<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Much like the bodyweight squats above, but instead do a lunge:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807288 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/lunge-kid.gif\" alt=\"Same idea as our bodyweight squat, your kid will rest on your shoulders as you do your lunge.\" width=\"310\" height=\"551\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since you&#8217;re engaging one leg at a time, this can be really challenging with a kid on your shoulders.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#3) Touch the Sky<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807292 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/touch-the-sky-kid.gif\" alt=\"This gif shows both Matt and his kid going from a squat to standing tall, arms up.\" width=\"309\" height=\"549\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>As Coach Matt explains, getting young kids to do squats and push-ups might be tough.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But kids do like to jump!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For \u201cTouch the Sky,\u201d sit in a squat or frog position. Then stand up tall, arms reaching towards the sky.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bonus points if you jump up!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will train many of the same muscles as you would with squats.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#4) Jumps<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807296 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/jump-with-kids.gif\" alt=\"Coach Matt performing jumps with his kids, a great exercise to try.\" width=\"310\" height=\"551\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Another good squat substitution to try with kids is long jumps!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You probably want to try this on some type of soft surface (or in your backyard), like the tumbling mat Coach Matt uses. As long as it\u2019s safe, jumping can be really fun with kids.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make a game out of it, by pointing to a line (or marking one with a soft object) and seeing who can jump over it. You\u2019ll not only train your lower body with jumps, but you\u2019ll also build some explosive power.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#5) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/proper-push-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Push-ups<\/a><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have a few options here.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first is to have your kid crawl on your back and use them as a weight:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807625 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/push-up-kid.gif\" alt=\"This is a gif of Matt doing push-ups, with his kid attached to his back.\" width=\"309\" height=\"549\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feel free to do knee push-ups here too if it\u2019s a little too challenging.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next option is to include your kid in the workout by giving them high-fives between reps:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807627 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/push-up-high-five.gif\" alt=\"At the top of your push-up, stick your arm out and give the kid a high-five!\" width=\"310\" height=\"551\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lastly, you can have your kids crawl under you between repetitions, trying to worm their way from one end to the other:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807628 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/push-up-crawl.gif\" alt=\"Once at the top of your push-up, have your kid crawl under you, like so.\" width=\"311\" height=\"553\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>#6) Bear Crawl<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A fun exercise to do with your kids is to crawl around like a bear with them latched on!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807629 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/bear-crawl-kids.gif\" alt=\"Coach Matt crawling around with his kid on his back.\" width=\"310\" height=\"551\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crawling is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/the-ultimate-guide-for-functional-fitness-exercises-and-workout-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">great functional fitness exercise<\/a> that will help you stay mobile on the floor. A kid on your back will up the intensity of the workout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bonus points if you make growling and roaring noises.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#7) Goat Bag Hinge<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-3807630 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/goat-bag-hinge.gif\" alt=\"This exercise has your kid clenching onto the front of your chest, while you push your hips back.\" width=\"310\" height=\"551\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This exercise will have you strengthening your hinge muscles, kind of like you would in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/the-20-minute-beginner-kettlebell-workout-build-muscle-and-burn-fat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">kettlebell swing<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/strength-training-101-the-deadlift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deadlift<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stand tall, clenching your kid, chest to chest. Have them hold onto you too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Push your hips back, again, like you would in a kettlebell swing. When your torso is parrell-ish to the ground, come back up, driving through your heels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#8) Balancing<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One leg balances can become a lot more challenging when your kid is trying to push you over:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3807631 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/leg-balance-kid-push.gif\" alt=\"A gif of Matt&#039;s kid trying to push him over as he balances on one leg.\" width=\"310\" height=\"551\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another idea is to stand on one leg, then have your kid push you, and use that force to jump onto your other leg. When playing this game, Coach Matt stands up his gymnastic mat tall and together, then places his kids in the middle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their job? Escape!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Run and track them down and send them back to jail (or your makeshift fort).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feel free to teach them the phrase, \u201cYou\u2019ll never catch me alive, coppers!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#3) Freeze Ball<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This might require a purchase, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/GoSports-Strong-Skin-Playground-Dodgeballs\/dp\/B0154K459M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">foam dodgeballs<\/a> are a great way to play with kids.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have the different colored dodgeballs result in a different outcome:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Red: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if you\u2019re hit with the \u201cfireball,\u201d hop five times in a row.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Blue:<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if you\u2019re hit with the \u201ciceball,\u201d you need to freeze for five seconds.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Green:<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if you\u2019re hit with the \u201cearthball,\u201d it\u2019s time to place your chest to the ground, like you would in a burpee.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>#4) Animal Walks<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have someone call out an animal. Then everyone has to walk around like that!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdfitness.com\/blog\/walking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Walking to Mordor<\/a> is much tougher if you need to crawl like a snake for part of the journey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#5) Hot Lava<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this game, you\u2019re more or less building an obstacle course in your house, trying to jump from furniture to furniture&#8230;because the floor is now lava.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some ideas on creating home obstacle courses:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hutsell Elementary- Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course (Field Day)\" width=\"950\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xqoMiWd6ayk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another fun way to start this game: start counting down from 5 out loud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After \u201c1\u201d shout \u201chot lava\u201d and if anyone is still on the normal floor, it\u2019s time for them to start playing like Gollum when he finally got the ring:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3807634 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gollum-ring.gif\" alt=\"A scene of Gollum falling into lava from Return of the King.\" width=\"245\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a fun standing game to ensure spontaneous activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#6) Jump\/Duck<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This game is pretty easy: take an imaginary sword and swing high or low at the kids, or have them come at you with their imaginary weapon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3807656\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/high-low.gif\" alt=\"Just swing high or low at your kid, and have then duck or jump respectively. \" width=\"312\" height=\"555\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You need to either jump if they\u2019re coming low or duck if they\u2019re coming high.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is really simple, but lots of fun, and can be done with a group of people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#7) King of the Log (Balance Challenges)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Much like the balance exercises we showed you earlier, but as a game!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find some territory (a mat, some comfy carpet, grass) and try to push the other off it. Let your kiddos team on you for a more even match.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#8) Wolf &amp; Rabbit<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a mark or identify a \u201csafe place\u201d within a short sprint away.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have two people face each other, but keep enough distance that the \u201cRabbit\u201d feels comfortable reaching safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rabbit stays frozen until the Wolf makes a move. Then the Rabbit attempts to sprint to safety before the Wolf can tag it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#9) Ninja Red Light, Green Light<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019ve ever played \u201cRed Light, Green Light\u201d this is similar, although it involves some sneaking around, because ninjas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-3807638 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/bestratefinders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/ninja-training.gif\" alt=\"A gif of a ninja doing ninja stuff.\" width=\"472\" height=\"235\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Mark\u201d walks around aimlessly, taking turns liberally, while the Ninja tries to sneak up behind and tag them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the Mark faces the Ninja, the Ninja must freeze.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Otherwise, the Ninja is free to tag the Mark.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>#9) Commando<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This game is kind of like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ninja Red Light, Green Light<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have a Counter (normally the adult).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have Runners (kids).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Counter picks a number from five to ten, then counts down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before doing so, they announce \u201cFast\u201d or \u201cSlow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fast, you would count \u201c5, dot, 4, dot, 3, dot, 2, dot, 1.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Slow, you would count \u201c5, dot, dot, 4, dot, dot, 3, dot, dot, 2, dot, dot, 1.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So twice as many \u201cdots\u201d are said allowed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the Counter counts, they move about (carefully) with their eyes closed.
