Unfortunately, while doing 150-pound <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/best-arm-workouts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"134545\">dumbbell skull crushers<\/a> during a May 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/emom-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"134546\">training<\/a> session, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/5PIVlLqllvA\" data-lasso-id=\"134560\">Ryjov tore<\/a> his right triceps tendon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On August 17, 2022, just four months post-injury, Ryjov performed a <strong>225-pound (102-kilogram) <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/bench-press\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"134547\">bench press<\/a> for 90 reps<\/strong>. However, it is unclear whose World Record mark he previously surpassed. (Larry &#8220;Wheels&#8221; Williams bench pressed <a href=\"https:\/\/barbend.com\/larry-wheels-bench-press-70-reps\/\" data-lasso-id=\"134561\">225 for 70 reps<\/a> in 2018.) Ryjov also noted that he intended to capture 100 reps but racked up his <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/7-steps-to-barbell-etiquette\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"134550\">barbell<\/a> because he &#8220;miscounted&#8221; his number.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For context on Ryjov&#8217;s achievement, the 225-pound bench press AMRAP is a standard evaluative test of strength for professional football draft prospects during the annual NFL Scouting Combine. In July 2020, professional strongmen <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/brian-shaw-2000-pound-car-leg-press-2022-shaw-classic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"134551\">Brian Shaw<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/strongman-robert-oberst-deadlift-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"134552\">Robert Oberst<\/a> tried their hand at the Combine record of 51 reps that Justin Ernest set in 1999. Oberst eventually locked out 42 reps while Shaw bettered his peer with 44. Shortly before his injury occurred in May, the athlete attempted to bench press 306.1 kilograms (675 pounds) but could not lock out the weight.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of this writing, Ryjov has not confirmed he would push for that milestone again. Additionally, even with this AMRAP bench press in the account, it&#8217;s unclear where Ryjov stands with his recovery.
