The pair will compete together in the Teams division at the upcoming 2022 Down Under Championship on Nov. 18-20, 2022, in Wollongong, Australia. Ellie Turner is the duo&#8217;s third teammate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an in-depth look at the first steps for Toomey and Wells before the Australian contest.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"videos\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FIRST DAY OF TEAM TRAINING WITH BROOKE WELLS\" width=\"950\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FAwNfMsU_54?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><em>[Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/kettlebell-swing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"142209\">How to Do the Kettlebell Swing for Explosive Power, Strength, and Conditioning<\/a>]<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Toomey and Wells&#8217; training session followed a pyramid rep scheme \u2014 where the first set has the lowest number of reps and highest weight, and the reps increase while the weight decreases as the routine moves forward.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a rundown of their complete workout, which took place over three rounds:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>9 bar&nbsp;muscle-ups<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>18 calories on the ski erg<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>36&nbsp;GHD sit-ups<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>18 calories on the&nbsp;ski erg<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>9 bar muscle-ups<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Rest one-for-one \u2014 meaning an equal work-to-rest ratio<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Notably, when Wells diagrammed the workout on a whiteboard, Toomey admitted to not having performed any muscle-ups since her historic performance at the 2022 CrossFit Games. While not explicitly stated, the pair also worked through some <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/best-leg-exercises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"142210\">walking barbell lunges<\/a> and closed their routine on a stationary Assault bike. The purpose of the cardio is to help Toomey acclimate to her target heart rate as she tries to get back into top-notch shape following some time off after the Games.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Post-workout, Toomey noted she felt a degree of fatigue. That might have been related to both her time off and <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/tia-clair-toomey-back-injury-2022-crossfit-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"142211\">recovery from a back injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent September video testimonial, Toomey&#8217;s appearance at the 2022 Down Under Championship <strong>will be her first in a Team competition in over five years<\/strong>. Most of Toomey&#8217;s recent focus has been on winning the Individual CrossFit Games for a record six consecutive times, surpassing five-time Fittest Man On Earth\u00ae <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/rob-kearney-mat-fraser-mal-obrien-overhead-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"142212\">Mat Fraser<\/a>.
